ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
Article three of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says: Everyone has the right to life [...]. The death penalty disregards this. Both the implementation and the toleration of the death penalty are totally unacceptable. Articles and books are compiled to raise awareness of this. Well informed people organize and carry out demonstrations. But pictures, reports and demonstrations are not enough.
 One group is above all others known for dealing with this theme: Amnesty International, the world's largest organization for the furtheance of human rights. In 2005 an Amnesty International Project called "Make some Noise" was created. Musicians and works that are published through this project present a message to all those who want to hear it. The artistes royalties are donated directly to Amnesty.
Spif Anderson is a Munich multi-talent, whose music has always placed emphasis on statement and social criticism. His music isn't just meant to make people hear but also to allow them the chance to open their eyes. It just seemed right that he should go to Amnesty International and that they become the patron for this CD.
The idea came about six years ago and in collaboration with Paul Graham Brown and Tobias Fricke. The three of them created the music and text and pre-produced "rough versions" of the songs. The material became a real album with creative support from Christoph Schultheiß and Thomas Mutschein who had both already been involved with Lennart's work of art "Friendly Fire", a CD which throws critical light on the theme of September 11th and the Iraq war.
This great team and many other fabulous Munich artists have worked on "Toni Jo Henry" and they all stand 100% behind its message: a musical statement against the deth penalty.
 With this CD we are made aware of the fate of Anne Beatrice McQuiston: a girl guilty without doubt guilty of killing a total stranger in cold blood, a crime for which she became the first and only woman in the state of Lousiana to be excecuted by electric chair.
In 18 Songs different moments in Toni Jo's life are played out. Weg et to know her thoughts, her life, her world. And we learn that under the circumstances in which she grew up she was never presented with many choices. She was a victim and in turn Joseph P. Galloway became a victim of her desperation. The Story with which every listener is confronted is proof that the death penalty as a deterrent simply doesn't work.
Is it really better fort he family of victims to find closure when the offender is sentenced to death? Is the murder of a murder really an appropriate measure in this day and age? Doesn't forgiveness carry more weight?
